What Does the Competition Day Look Like?
Typical Schedule
7:30 - 8:00 AM.............Event Check-in
8:30 AM.......................Opening Remarks
9:00 AM.......................Competition round robin begins
11:30 - 12:30 PM..........Lunch Break
4:00 PM........................Awards Ceremony
How is Regionals Different from National Competition?
At Regionals you will be competing against middle school students from across the state of Tennessee. At Nationals, the winning teams from each Region compete against each other. The rules and competition structures are the same in both competitions.
Do I have to Compete in Regionals to Compete in Nationals?
Yes, it is a requirement to have competed and won a regional competition to be eligible to compete in the national competition.
Will the 2024 Volunteer State Science Bowl Be In-person?
Yes. VSSB 2024 is planned to be hosted in-person. Any change in the format will be communicated through this website.
Can We Get Help With Attendance Costs?
Yes, some schools are eligible for financial assistance to cover the cost of attending the competition. Please contact us if you would like more information on the criteria and application process.
